Our Strategy (2025-2028)

Supporting Young Carers Every Step of the Way

At Basingstoke & District Young Carers, everything we do is focused on supporting young people whose lives are affected by the illness, disability, mental health condition, addiction or additional needs of someone in their family, many of whom remain hidden, unrecognised or unsupported.

Our 2025-2028 strategy outlines how we will continue to grow, strengthen, and expand support over the next three years, ensuring every young carer in our community has access to the help, opportunities, and understanding they deserve.

Our Vision

We believe that no young person should miss out on their childhood because of the impact that family circumstances can have on their lives.

Our strategy is built around creating safe spaces, building confidence, improving awareness, and ensuring young carers feel seen, supported and understood – both within their families and across the wider community.

Our Key Priorities

Clubs - Exploration & Respite

Providing a safe, welcoming environment where young carers can relax, be themselves, and spend time with others who understand their experiences.

Trips & Activities

Organising trips and experiences that give young carers the chance to step away from their responsibilities and create lasting memories.

School Support & Awareness

Working with schools to identify and support young carers and improve understanding of their needs.

Key Worker Support

Ensuring staff and volunteers have the tools and training to support young carers effectively.

Community Engagement

Raising awareness and building stronger connections across the local community.

Why This Matters

Basingstoke & District Young Carers is a growing service supporting an increasing number of young people across the area.

As demand continues to rise, so does the need for sustainable funding, stronger partnerships, and increased awareness.
